Procedure Details
1
Colonoscopy
A simple procedure using a flexible tube with a camera to check your large bowel, colon, rectum, and sometimes the small bowel. It can help remove polyps, take samples, and treat any issues like bleeding.
2
Endoscopy
A quick procedure with a flexible tube to check your oesophagus, stomach, and duodenum. It helps diagnose symptoms like stomach pain, heartburn, nausea, vomiting, weight loss, difficulty swallowing, or abnormal bloods tests or scans. An endoscopy can remove polyps and stop bleeding.
3
Enteroscopy
This procedure lets your doctor examine your food pipe, stomach, and small bowel for abnormalities like inflammation or bleeding. It’s a flexible tube with a small camera and light. The doctor can use the endoscope to remove small growths or take samples. You may experience some pressure or bloating during the procedure, but it should go away quickly.
4 Flexible Sigmoidoscopy
A short procedure where a flexible tube is used to check the inside lining of your lower large bowel for growths or diseases using a sigmoidoscope – a short, flexible tube with a camera and light attached. It’s usually quick, and any discomfort is brief.
