ABOUT DR PAULA SMITH-BROWN
Dietitian
PhD (UQ), APD, BSc
Dr Paula Smith-Brown is an Accredited Pracitising Dietitian (APD) with a special interest in gut health, food intolerance, and the human microbiome. She combines over a decade of clinical experience with a deep understanding of the latest microbiome science.
Paula began her career in the UK after completing her dietetics training at King’s College London. She gained valuable experience working in NHS hospitals and developed a strong interest in supporting people with food allergies and intolerances. Since moving to Australia, she has continued this work in private practice, helping patients with a wide range of dietary needs.
She completed a PhD exploring how the gut microbiome develops and its links to long-term health. Her research was recognised with the Asia-Pacific Nestlé Nutrition Institute Young Researcher Award in 2017. Following her PhD, Paula spent seven years in the microbiome biotechnology sector, translating cutting-edge science into practical, evidence-based tools for clinicians and patients. She is a Certified Healthy Gut Practitioner and Certified Microbiome Analyst, having completed further specialist training through the Microbiome Restoration Centre.
Paula takes a personalised, evidence-based and practical approach to managing digestive disorders, food intolerances, and complex gut conditions. She’s excited to be part of the Integrated Gut Health team, where she supports patients in navigating their health journey with clarity and confidence.
Outside of work, Paula enjoys dancing, Pilates, meditation, and spending time with her daughters
