Dr Vishal Y Kaushik

Dr. Vishal Y Kaushik began his role as a Senior Medical Officer at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in April 2019, leading Nutrition Services for Queensland (covering all areas north of the Brisbane River) and bringing extensive expertise in telehealth.

With a strong interest in gastroenterological diseases, his role includes performing endoscopies, managing general gastroenterology clinics, conducting inpatient ward rounds, and providing on-call support.

Before relocating to Australia, he served as a Consultant in Gastroenterology in Lancashire, UK, for 16 years. During this time, he was also a member of the Practitioners Tribunal Service organised by the General Medical Council (GMC), a Clinical Advisor to the Healthcare Parliamentary Ombudsman, and a Royal College Tutor.

In addition to holding a Master of Healthcare Law and Ethics, he is a Fellow of the American Gastroenterological Association and the European Board of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. His approach to patient care is centred on empathy, active listening, and collaboration—ensuring that patients feel heard, understood, and involved in their treatment decisions.
