How do I book an appointment?
How do I get my test results?

You can request your test results by emailing concierge@integratedguthealth.com.

Will my results be shared with my doctor?

We can share your results with your healthcare provider upon request. Our goal is to complement—not replace—your current medical care.

Do I need a referral to see the Gastroenterologist?

Yes. A current referral is required to receive a Medicare rebate. Referrals typically come from a GP or specialist. Referrals from a GP will last for 12 months, and if from a specialist will last for 3 months (from first date of use).

Do I need a referral to see the Dietitian?

No referral is required. However, a Chronic Disease Management Plan (CDMP) or Eating Disorder Plan (EDP) from your GP can allow you to claim a Medicare rebate. Some private health insurance plans may also provide a rebate. Check this with your provider.

Can I claim from my private health insurance for a consultation with the Gastroenterologist?

No, as it is an outpatient service. Private health insurance only covers inpatient or day admission stays.

Procedures & Costs

What are the fees involved with having a procedure?

Our concierge will advise you of the consultation fees when you contact us for an appointment.

For privately insured patients:

  • Check that your insurance covers you as a private patient in the chosen hospital.
  • If covered, you will only need to pay your health insurance excess on the day (if applicable).
  • Integrated Gut Health participates in the no-gap cover scheme, so procedure costs will be billed directly to your health fund.

For uninsured patients:

  • The hospital account must be paid upon admission.
  • Medicare does not provide rebates for hospital fees.
  • Contact your hospital for a procedure cost estimate.

Gut Health & Wellbeing

BLANK - DNU
Why is gut health important?

Your gut plays a vital role in digestion, nutrient absorption, immune function, and mental health. A well-balanced gut can improve overall wellbeing, while gut imbalances may contribute to conditions like IBS, IBD, and food intolerances.

How do I know if my gut health needs attention?

Signs of gut issues include bloating, abdominal pain, irregular bowel movements (constipation or diarrhea), fatigue, and food sensitivities. If you experience ongoing symptoms, it’s important to seek professional advice.

How can IGH help me manage my gut health, including IBD?

We take a comprehensive, evidence-based approach to gut health. Our expert team, including gastroenterologists, dietitians, and mental health professionals, works together to provide:

  • Medical management: Expert diagnosis and treatment plans tailored to your condition.
  • Dietary support: Personalised nutrition advice to help manage symptoms and improve gut function.
  • Microbiome insights: Advanced testing to better understand your gut health.
  • Holistic care: A patient-centred approach that considers all aspects of your wellbeing.
Can stress and mental health really affect gut health?

Yes, stress and mental health can significantly impact gut health. The brain and gut are closely connected through what’s known as the gut-brain axis—a two-way communication system between your central nervous system and your digestive system. When you’re stressed or dealing with anxiety or depression, this communication can become disrupted, leading to changes in gut function.

What is microbiome testing, and do I need it?

Microbiome testing analyses the bacteria in your gut to identify imbalances that may contribute to digestive symptoms. It’s useful for personalising treatment plans but may not be necessary for everyone.

When should I consider a colonoscopy or endoscopy at Integrated Gut Health?

You should consider scheduling a colonoscopy and/or endoscopy at Integrated Gut Health if you’re experiencing persistent or unexplained gastrointestinal symptoms, or if you meet age or risk-based screening guidelines. Here’s a breakdown:

Colonoscopy

A colonoscopy is typically recommended if you:

  • Are age 45 or older (routine colorectal cancer screening)
  • Have a family history of colorectal cancer or polyps
  • Experience symptoms such as:
    • Rectal bleeding
    • Chronic constipation or diarrhoea
    • Unexplained weight loss
    • Changes in bowel habits
    • Abdominal pain or bloating

    Endoscopy (Upper GI Endoscopy)

An upper endoscopy may be advised if you have:

    • Persistent acid reflux or heartburn (possible GERD)
    • Difficulty swallowing
    • Chronic nausea or vomiting
    • Unexplained upper abdominal pain
    • Suspected ulcers, or celiac disease

If you’re unsure which test is right for you, our gastroenterology team will assess your symptoms and medical history to recommend the appropriate procedure. Early detection and diagnosis are key to maintaining long-term digestive health.

    What is the gut microbiome?

The gut microbiome is a community of trillions of bacteria, viruses, and other microorganisms living in your digestive tract. These microbes influence how you digest food, absorb nutrients, fight illness, and even regulate mood and inflammation.
